Community Involvement

At Whittlesey, we believe in making a difference in our local communities. Our team members are encouraged to actively participate in community service, both as individuals and as part of our firm. Our dedication to giving back spans a range of initiatives, from volunteer work and leadership roles to financial support through our Whittlesey Fund.

A History of Giving Back

Whittlesey has a rich tradition of giving back to our communities. Our partners and managers serve in leadership positions, volunteering their time and sharing their talents with organizations throughout the region. Through our Whittlesey Fund, managed by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, we provide financial assistance to local nonprofits. We're also proud to annually support the United Way and the Greater Hartford Arts Council, thanks to the generosity of our employees.

Annual Community Day

One of the most exciting days of the year at Whittlesey is our Annual Community Day. We close our offices, and our team participates in hands-on volunteer service at several nonprofit organizations. This day of service strengthens our connection to the community and provides an opportunity for our team members to work together toward a common goal.

Making a Difference, Together

From nourishing our communities through gardening initiatives to crafting with care for various organizations, Whittlesey employees are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those around them. Through our collaborative efforts and the support of our team, we continue to strengthen our commitment to our local communities.

Thanks to the generosity of the Whittlesey team, our partners, clients, and friends, we were able to celebrate these successes in 2022:

  • Volunteered with Junior Achievement of Southwest Connecticut to provide students at the Consolidated School District of New Britain with various financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship lessons.
  • Participated in a firm-wide volunteer day focused on environmental sustainability efforts. Alongside ReGreen Springfield, the Bushnell Park Foundation, and the United Way of Greater New Haven, our team planted community and pollinator gardens across the region.
  • Contributed nearly $150,000 to local charities throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts, including the CTCPA, United Way, and the Greater Hartford Arts Council.
