The Tax Manager is responsible for the delivery of a full range of tax services for multiple clients in a wide variety of industries. Responsibilities include interacting closely with clients to provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise; developing and managing staff; working closely with partners and staff on client management, practice development and business development activities. The Tax Manager is responsible for the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage clients: plan, execute, direct, and complete tax projects; provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients; market, sell, design, and implement tax-planning strategies for clients and manage to budget
- Conduct primary and secondary review of complicated or complex income tax returns including Corporate, S-Corp., partnership, and individual clients
- Understand and manage firm risk on tax services and proposals
- Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement
- Research and consult on complex tax matters
- Maintain communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, making sure deadlines are met
- Maintain and adhere to the highest degree of professional standards
- Develop and manage new business
- Use established network of business relationships to generate new sales opportunities
- Maintain strong client relations and cross-sell services
- Recruit and retain managers, senior associates, and associates
- Coach staff and motivate others to accept new ideas
- Attend professional development and training seminars on a regular basis
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA, Masters in Taxation preferred
- A minimum of seven years of progressive tax consulting and / or compliance experience in public accounting or a combination of corporate and public accounting experience
- Experience in Corporate, S-Corp. and / or Partnership returns and individual clients, high net worth individuals, trusts and estates and state tax
- Superior analytical, technical, and tax accounting / technology skills
- Ability to manage and develop staff
- Demonstrated experience in business development and managing others
- Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
- Computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology
