Community Involvement

Whittlesey & Hadley has been a leading provider of financial services to nonprofit organizations in the Hartford region and throughout Connecticut for more than 50 years. The Firm planted its roots in Hartford in 1961 and believes our success must be equally matched by what we return to the community.

Our partners and staff are involved in a variety of philanthropic activities with a diverse collection of organizations devoted to rewarding missions. We take an active role on boards and sponsor a number of charitable fundraising and volunteer events each year throughout the Hartford region. A major Firm tradition is the annual Community Day, an event that introduces employees to numerous volunteer opportunities at client organizations throughout our region, giving them a chance to make a direct impact on their missions and the communities which they serve.

The Firm sponsors teams and encourages employees to participate in several local community events. Employees have teamed up to support HYPE—Hartford Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs, Susan G. Komen Walk for a Cure, Immaculate Conception Shelter, United Way and United Arts Campaign, Travelers Championship, and Hartford’s Dragon Boat Races. These events provide members of our Firm the opportunity to increase their involvement in our community, network with co-workers outside of the office, and participate in fun and meaningful activities that make a real difference.

Whittlesey & Hadley believes that reading is fundamental to learning and succeeding in school and the workplace. The Firm is the first Hartford-based business to provide NOOK Tablets™ to third grade students at Dr. Ramon E. Betances Early Reading Lab School in Hartford. The NOOK Tablets will help to enhance the curriculam and further the mission of the Third Grade Promise—whereas all students who enter a Hartford Public School at grade Pre-K or K will read at/above grade level by the end of third grade.
